Wrestler Of The Year 2017 | Karen Q

As the year 2017 comes to an end the Squared Circle Sirens teams will be highlighting different wrestlers from across the globe that we feel have made an impact over the past 365 days! Today we will be looking at Karen Q!

To say I’m proud of Karen Q would be an understatement. When I picked her as my one to watch in 2017 I expected big things for her but I didn’t expect her to accomplish all she did throughout this past year. When I saw Karen at an armory in Whitehall, New York I knew she was special and I’m so glad the entire world is seeing what I first saw in her.

Trained by Johnny Rodz, Damien Adams, and Deonna Purrazzo it’s no wonder that Karen has star written all over her.

Q started the year off making a big splash on the East Coast having defended her VPW Women’s Title against all challengers and making her mark in Beyond Wrestling/ Women’s Wrestling Revolution having an incredible match against fellow Team Adams member Tasha Steelz at ‘Identity Crisis’. She continued impressing when she made her debut at AIW’s Girl’s Night Out 19 where she and Kiera Hogan had what many called the match of the night.

She didn’t stop at that. She wanted to impress even more (How is that even possible?) and she did just that when she made her ROH debut, defeating Kelly Klein and ending her 500 day long undefeated streak in her very first match with the company that I had the honor of being in attendance for! She continued to have an upswing in ROH where in her second time appearing for the promotion she main evented the third-ever Women of Honor Television special in July where she defeated Klein and her mentor, Deonna Purrazzo, which thrusted her into a feud with Purrazzo.

She ended her year in only a way she could by not only taking part of a WWE tryout but also by winning this years ECWA Super 8 Chickfight Tournament after defeating Christina Marie in the first round and both Santana Garrett and Deonna Purrazzo in the finals and winning the ECWA Women’s Title.

She’s undefeated in ROH’s Women of Honor, she’s expanding her horizons having debuted for RISE and SHIMMER in November and she’s quickly becoming one of the top wrestlers in the world. 2017 was incredible for Karen Q and I wouldn’t be shocked if she makes her 2018 even better!

ROH is literally building their women’s division around Karen Q, Deonna Purazzo, and Kelly Klein. (I would have added Mandy Leon, but not sure if she returned from her tour in Japan atm)
