Revolution Championship Wrestling will present their second World Cup on Saturday, September 2nd in Barcelona, Spain. The promotion has announced all it’s competitors two months ahead. The names include Chelsea Green, representing Canada, Debbie Sharpe (Scotland), Thunder Rosa (Mexico), Camille (France), former RCW Women’s Champion Leah Owens (Ireland) and her sister Kasey, Charlie Morgan (England), Su Yung (U.S), Sammii Jayne (Scotland), Killer Kelly (Portugal) and current Goddesses of STARDOM Champions Kagetsu and Hana Kimura will be representing Japan.
Dragonita (Spain) and current RCW Women’s Champion, Santana Garrett (U.S) were a part of the first World Cup last May, a collaborative effort with STARDOM, French Association Biterroise de Catch, WWS Mexico and British Empire Wrestling. The Japanese promotion took its competitors on a three-day tour of Europe and crowned the inaugural SWA United World Women’s Champion through a tournament involving performers from various countries. Io Shirai won the championship and went on to defend it twice successfully before dropping it to Toni Storm last July. Storm is currently nine title defenses deep into her reign.
Revolution Championship Wrestling has stressed that this year’s show is not a tournament of any kind and instead is an all women’s show. The promotion has given an exclusive to us here at SCS, the first matchup to be announced for the show will see Hana Kimura taking on Sammii Jayne. Kimura will ditch her all-black garb that she’s seen wearing in STARDOM for her white and pink gear that she’s worn in WRESTLE-1 and for other outside promotions. Jayne is the current EVE Champion – this match is likely to be non-title.
