Piledrive A Fascist – Pro Wrestling EVE Documentary

Over the last few days lots has happened within women’s wrestling across the globe. Not only did WWE hold a taping for the Mae Young Classic tournament, but  SHINE Wrestling crowned the first Nova champion in a tournament of their own, and in Japan Shanna became the first Portuguese female to capture a title in the country.

Something that flew a little under the radar was the release of “Piledrive A Fascist” a short documentary about England’s  Pro Wrestling EVE Promotion. EVE is the UK’s premier feminist-punk-rock wrestling promotion, founded and operated by Dann & Emily Read since 2005.

EVE has been the premier place for female wrestling in the UK over the last few years. Having showcased names such as Britani Knight (WWE’s Paige), Nikki Storm (NXT’s Nikki Cross), and Alpha Female before they made it big. They’ve also been one of the only promotions in the UK to bring in big names from Japan such as Emi Sakura, Riho, and the legendary Meiko Satomura & Manami Toyota.

Melt Video and Martin Hines filmed the documentary over the corse of EVE’s Babes With The Power two day event which saw them crown a new Pro Wrestling EVE Champion in Sammi Jayne after she defeated Kay Lee Ray in the finals. Sammi won the title after current champion Rhia O’Reilly had to vacate the title due to an injury.

In the documentary EVE wrestlers Jinny, Session Moth Martina, Jetta, and much more are interviewed about the company and what it means to them. GLOW star and musician Kate Nash is also interviewed in the documentary and talks about how much she loves the promotion.
