One To Watch 2018 | Aja Perera

It’s crazy to know that Aja Perera is just 23 years old and that she’s been wrestling since 2013, isn’t it?

While she has been wrestling for four years 2017 was in my opinion, the year everyone started to take notice of the spunky superhero as she turned heads in every promotion she wrestled for this year.

Fresh off the heels of a tour of Mexico for LLF Aja started her 2017 making her debut for Queens of Combat in North Carolina, teaming with fellow Georgia native, Kiera Hogan in the tournament to crown the first ever tag team champions in the company. While the duo came up short, falling in defeat to the team of Chelsea Green & Taeler Hendrix, who would go on to win the tournament, she made a lasting impression on the crowd. She, in fact, won her match against Miss Diss Lexia the following night for the company.

She made another big debut in 2017, for SHINE back at SHINE 42 in May where she wrestled in a Sparkle Showcase match against someone she was very familiar with Dementia D’Rose. While she came out on the losing end this wouldn’t be the last we saw of Aja in SHINE. She was a part of the tournament to crown the first ever SHINE Nova Champion and managed to defeat Stormie Lee in the first round before falling to Kiera Hogan later on, kickstarting a feud with the Cutie Pie Club that saw Aja team up with several women to take on the trio and eventually forming a tag team with Aerial Monroe in the company. She rounded out her year in SHINE by challenging Priscilla Kelly for the title, and whilst she came up short she showed everyone that she is someone to watch out for in the future.

Perera took part in RISE 3 – MEDIC which saw her defeat Stefany Sinclair in singles action and gain herself the opportunity to have a dark match before the SHIMMER tapings which saw her face Kikyo the first night, and defeat Laynie Luck in a match before the tapings of SHIMMER Volume 94.

She won a tournament, becoming the number one contender for the Girl Fight Title and has qualified for the Making Town Classic tournament which will be held in Nashville, Tennesee in May. She just announced that she will also be embarking on a tour of Japan with Marvelous for four months. Her 2018 is looking incredible and it hasn’t even started yet. 2018 is going to be a breakout year for Aja Perera mark my words!
