It was announced today that Joshi female wrestler Mio Shirai would be retiring later this year.
The 27 year old wrestler announced today at a press conference for her M.I.O produced event that she would be hanging up her wrestling boots after wrestling her final match on September 20th. Mio said that she was mainly retiring due to a bad neck injury she suffered.
She started her career in March 2007, working alongside her sister Io Shirai on the Japanese independent circuit for promotions such as Ice Ribbon, JWP, and Pro Wrestling WAVE.
As of late she’s worked promotions such as Oz Academy, Ice Ribbon, and Pro Wrestling WAVE alongside running her own produced M.I.O shows.
Mio had really come into her own as a wrestler over the last few years so it’s a big loss in the wrestling community to see a talent like her go.
