ECWA Super 8 Chickfight Tournament: Meet Britt Baker
- Updated: October 17, 2016
On October 22nd, 2016, ECWA will be hosting the ECWA Super 8 ChickFight Tournament. Eight women will be competing in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey to reign supreme. Leading up to this event, the Squared Circle Sirens staff will be talking with the competitors of the tournament.
I had the pleasure to speak with Britt Baker
Casey: Tell us about yourself. What made you decide to become a professional wrestler?
Britt: “I loved watching wrestling but never really considered becoming a wrestler until very recently when I learned about independent wrestling. I moved to Pittsburgh, PA for dental school and learned that there was a training school in the area, too. I decided to give it a try and contacted IWC for a tryout….. and here we are!”
Casey: Who were your inspirations growing up and currently?
Britt: “Lita has always been an inspiration. I actually sometimes still listen to her entrance music at the gym and remember how pumped I used to get when she would be making her way down the ramp. She was so fearless and vicious and just an outright badass babe. Currently one of my inspirations is one of my trainers, Candice LeRae. Again, another fearless beauty in the ring that constantly amazes me with her endless knowledge and advice.”
Casey: Where were you/are you training? How long have you been wrestling?
Britt: “I started training in the Pittsburgh area with IWC under Super Hentai and Marshall Gambino. I now also train in Cleveland with AIW under Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano. I’ve been wrestling for just over a year.”
Casey: The Super 8 tournament has been a platform for 20 years, giving many of today’s superstars a platform to compete. What would winning the Super 8 mean to you?
Britt “I’m really looking forward to working with the girls in the tournament. The past two winners, Tessa Blanchard and Deonna Purrazzo are two females that I am always watching and keeping tabs on because I believe they will be big time players in the future of the women’s wrestling revolution. With names like that as your former champions, you’ve got a solid reputation for a tournament and I definitely want to add “Britt Baker” to that list.”
Casey: This years Women’s Super 8 Chickfight Tournament has women coming from all over the US. Is there anyone in the tournament you are particularly looking forward to having a chance to compete with?
Britt “I would love to compete with any of the women in the tournament but seeing as how Deonna currently has the title, I’m coming for her. I’ve had some solid matches with her and she never fails to bring the heat as a fierce competitor. Rachael Ellering is another name that stood out to me in the tournament. I have nothing but respect for a Storm Wrestling Academy graduate and I would love to share the ring with her.”
You can catch Britt Baker and the rest of the women in the ECWA Super 8 Chickfight Tournament on October 22nd at the the Woodbury Heights Community Center in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey. For tickets and more information on the ECWA Super 8 Chickfight Tournament click here.
