Chris Jericho talks about the Divas Revolution

Recently on Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho spoke critically about the so-called Divas Revolution in WWE.
In Jericho’s view, the biggest problem in the WWE today is “the tale of two cities for the Divas Revolution.” As an example, Jericho said that one of the best two matches at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn was Sasha Banks vs. Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship, and then two nights later, one of the worst segments on RAW was Miz TV with the divas and then the divas match. Jericho said the difference is that on NXT, Bayley and Sasha Banks have distinct characters and their storyline was a straightforward battle over the NXT Women’s Championship, whereas on RAW, there are too many characters and too many new factions.
“You can’t push nine people at once. You can’t. They introduced too many people in too short a timeframe and put them all together and mixed them all together, so now it’s just one big wash,”
According to Jericho, too many NXT talent have been brought to the main roster at once and just because WWE brings NXT talent to the main roster and give them time to perform, it does not really matter when the time they are given is not quality time.
“I think all the divas are talented. I think the four from NXT [Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks], even though Bayley is not here yet, are off the charts talented, but I think it’s not working right now in the WWE because it’s too much at once”.
During the podcast, Jericho compared the Four Horsewomen of NXT, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks, to Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Chris Benoit back in the 1990s insofar as the Four Horsewomen work best together because they know each other best.
“You can’t put us with other guys that aren’t of that level and expect the same type of matches. And those girls in the WWE are working hard, the Bellas and Alicia Fox and Paige, but those four from NXT, they just know each other better. They’re cut from a different cloth. They work together better, so they are going to be having better matches.”
Also, Jericho suggested that the audience needs to get to know the characters better. Jericho said that he knows that those women can tear the house down, but we need to know their characters a bit more and WWE needs to focus on individuals because trying to push all nine of them at once is too much.
